Review queue — approve before applying
FaceMatch never silently overwrites your address book unless you turn on auto-apply for high-confidence matches. Most suggestions go to the Review tab first.
Open Review
1. Tap the Review tab in the bottom bar (iPhone) or sidebar (iPad).
2. You’ll see pending photo suggestions with the contact name, source platform, and match reason.
Approve a match
1. Tap a suggestion to preview the candidate photo beside the contact.
2. Tap Apply (or equivalent approve action) to write the photo to Apple Contacts.
3. The item leaves the review queue.
Reject or skip
- Dismiss or Ignore removes the suggestion without changing the contact.
- You can run matching again later if new sources become available.
Auto-apply (optional)
Under Settings → Sync & Automation you can adjust thresholds so very strong matches apply automatically. Default behaviour favours manual review.
We recommend keeping review enabled until you trust the match quality for your contact list.
After applying
- The photo is saved to the same contact in Apple Contacts — it syncs via iCloud if you use iCloud Contacts.
- Settings → Photo Audit Log shows a local history of changes made through the app.
- To revert, use photo history in the app or change the photo manually in Contacts.
